2026 Harvesting Hope: Healing Begins With US Fundraiser Event
May 15, 2026 – The community came together to support youth mental health counseling by raising over $10,000 to be used for counseling sessions for disadvantaged youth. Numerous local sponsors assisted with corporate donations and local restaurants provided food donations. These funds will be used in the coming year to raise the mental health wellness for youth going through trauma and mental illness.
Since the Kiwanis Inspired Teens (KIT) Fund inception in Spring 2025, over 200 mental health sessions have been funded for teens in need. This fund reduces wait times and provides financial support. Key takeaways of these provided sessions show:
Trauma remains the most prominent drive with increasing complexity across cases.
While upperclassmen remain the largest group, the program is reaching students earlier.
The program continues to serve a higher proportion of female students, consistent with broader adolescent mental health help-seeking trends.
Nearly 100 sessions were provided in the last 3 months. Reflects a significant increase in program utilization and continued demand for services. Since March 29, 2026, there are an additional 95 sessions projected.
This rapid increase in service delivery reflects both growing demand for the KIT Fund and strong engagement from participating students, demonstrating the KIT Fund is actively being utilized to meet urgent mental health needs in the community.

2026 Troy Kiwanis Foundation Presents Mental Health Funds
April 6, 2026 – Currently the KIT Fund has funded approximately 200 counseling sessions for low income teens. Results from the program include increased attendance, academic progress, healthy peer choices, and constructive post-secondary engagement.
Jan. 21, 2026 – Troy Kiwanis Foundation recently presented a check for the KIT (Kiwanis Inspired Teens) Fund, aimed at providing essential financial assistance for youth mental health counseling. Community support has been instrumental in continuing this mental health initiative!!!
Autana Family Therapy Center provides mental health counseling sessions (referred by school counselors) and is funded by the KIT Fund for community youth going through trauma, depression, anxiety or mental health crisis.
Mental health is an issue that affects millions of individuals, yet it remains a topic that many people still struggle to openly discuss. Michigan statistics show 60% of youth with major depression do not receive mental health treatment. This financial assistance fund allows families (with no financial means or insurance) to obtain mental health counseling for their youth’s mental wellness.
Launched in Spring 2025, this mental health assistance donation fund supports:
• Youth mental health and well-being
• Strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and depression
The KIT Fund has rapidly connected youth with moderate to severe mental health needs to timely, school-linked therapy—changing trajectories for students who otherwise may have gone without care.
Per school counselors: “The adolescent mental health crisis has been well documented … school counselors often have no therapeutic options for low-income referrals that don’t come with a six-month wait list. The lack of mental health treatment, especially in trauma cases, can lead to a lack of motivation, school avoidance, drops in achievement, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation.

2025 Harvesting Hope: Healing Begins With US Fundraiser Event
May 16, 2025 – The annual Harvesting Hope: Healing Begins with US was held May 16. The Kiwanis Club of Troy is a part of Kiwanis International, which works to help children around the world with a variety of service and fundraising projects. The Troy chapter serves children in the community with projects that help provide access to mental health services and programs, as well as opportunities to develop young people’s leadership abilities.
“Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located,” reads the group’s website, noting that global members hold 150,000 service projects and raise nearly $100 million each year. “By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.”
This year’s fundraiser was held at Troy Historic Village and included wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, entertainment, a silent auction, raffles, and opportunities to learn about the Kiwanis Club’s assistance mission. Proceeds for the event went towards youth mental health counseling sessions, associated with the Troy Kiwanis Foundation KIT Mental Health Fund, to help underserved students in need of financial aid. “KIT” stands for “Kiwanis Inspired Teens.”
Since the KIT Fund launch, more than 134 mental health counseling sessions have been covered by donations. These sessions are possible because of community supporting our mission.
“In Michigan, nearly 60% of teens experiencing depression cannot access help — a truly alarming statistic,” said Colleen Reveley, with the Autana Family Therapy Center, in a press release. “Families seeking mental health assistance often face significant barriers, including long wait times, limited in-person availability and overwhelming financial burdens.” She said the fund helps eliminate those barriers.
“This initiative enables and empowers youth in our community to move towards wellness and to heal during such a critical time in their lives,” Reveley said. “We are grateful for Kiwanis’ commitment to our community and our youth.” #KidsNeedKiwanis #CommunitySupport #MentalHealthMatters
